NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Doug Herley did a dry run of SpaceX pre-launch actions in preparation for their upcoming crew assignment that could happen as soon as April this year. The two spacemen donned their spacesuits but rather than riding a glistening astrovan, they took a sleek white Model X from their team quarters going into the launch pad. A SpaceX employee drove the astronauts whilst support staff aboard a Model X adopted .

NASA spokesman Joshua Santora sees the development as part of their collaboration with SpaceX and Tesla. “This is a portion of us studying to operate with a commercial supplier, & rdquo of the sport; Santora said.

The two astronauts shared their enthusiasm about the SpaceX launch escape system test, their Tesla rides, along with the notion of launching American astronauts straight from American land.

Exciting weekend! Had fun dry-running @SpaceX Crew Dragon pre-launch activities–w/space suits & modern transport. Saw first hand demo of Dragon's launch escape system. Two very different kinds of enthusiasm (assess our faces)! Super proud of what the group has achieved! pic.twitter.com/ppHWm3ymDJ

On Sunday, SpaceX struck a huge landmark by successfully finishing an unmanned abort test because of the Crew Dragon spacecraft. During the test, SpaceX ruined a Falcon 9 rocket to simulate failure in a flight from the launch pad into Earth’s orbit and also to test the launch escape system of the Crew Dragon’s capsule.

The IFA test is that the last significant step before Crew Dragon is rid of ferry astronauts from Earth to the International Space Station and back. The test proves that SpaceX and its Crew Dragon can fly astronauts into orbit and keep them safe in case an emergency occurs during flight.

“This flight test that is important puts us on the cusp of returning the capacity to launch astronauts in American spacecraft on American rockets in American land. We are thrilled with the advancement NASA’s Commercial Crew Program is making and look forward to the next landmark for Crew Dragon,” stated NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine.

SpaceX CEO and chief engineer Elon Musk voiced his concerns but he was delighted with the results.

“As far as we could tell so far, it’s a picture-perfect mission. It functioned as well as one can anticipate. This can be a reflection of their commitment and hard work of their SpaceX and NASA teams to successfully achieve this objective. Obviously, I’m . This is very good,” Musk stated.
