Tesla’s built-in dashcam saves Model 3 owner from strange traffic citation

Whoever owns a Tesla Model 3 is crediting his automobile ’s built-in dashcam for helping him contend against a ticket he received from a cop who accused him of not using his turn sign at a traffic light.

Tesla Model 3 proprietor and Twitter consumer @pmoconne has been pulled in his home state of Indiana while driving on what is basically a normal day. Nothing appeared out of place during the incident, together with the Model 3 proprietor after a truck as he turned.

After completing the turn, an officer promptly walked to the middle of the street, stopping @pmoconne and twisting him to pull at the side of the road. The officer said that the Tesla proprietor did not use a blinker when turning left, and he also issued a traffic ticket value $171 to get “Failure to Signal for Turn or Lane Change. ”

A movie uploaded to the Tesla owner’s Twitter account shows the reflection of this Model 3’s turn signal in the tailgate of their Chevrolet pickup truck straight ahead of the electric vehicle.

Indiana State traffic legislation 9-21-8-25 says that “A sign of intention to turn left or right shall be given continuously during not less than the last fourteen hundred (200) feet traveled by a car before turning or changing lanes. A car traveling at a speed zone of fifty (50) miles per hour shall give a sign continuously for not less than the last three hundred (300) feet traveled by the vehicle before turning or changing lanes. ” The legislation requires the driver of this car to keep their turn signal’s usage even when at a turn only lane.

Fortunately for the Model 3 proprietor, video files from his Tesla’s cameras were all to his side. During his appearance , @pmoconne challenged the officer’s account by introducing his Model 3’s dashcam footage in his courtroom appearance. The Tesla proprietor pointed out the reflection of his automobile blinkers on the tailgate of their Chevrolet pickup . As a result of the footage, the judge came to the conclusion that the situation must ignored. The $171 fine was removed.

In the past, Tesla’s built in dashcam has been in charge of resolving concerns of collision liability, knock instances , and instances of Hazards . Of getting an owner out of a traffic violation that is applied this illustration shows the feature is much more valuable than Tesla owners think. In this case, it saved @pmoconne, the proprietor of Model 3 Long Range and Performance variants, $171.00.
