Tesla’s Battery Day is less than two weeks off, and since anticipation continues to build in the lead-up into case, the electrical vehicle maker seems to be hard at work acquiring its pilot mobile manufacturing ready for its first visitors. Fortunately, it appears that Tesla’s “Roadrunner” facility is coming together pretty nicely, with function seemingly ramping since the Tesla community passes the last stretch to Battery Day.

Tesla enthusiast and drone owner Gabeincal lately conducted a flyover of their Roadrunner facility, which will be situated close to the Fremont factory. Check out the site demonstrates that function in the facility is ongoing, and the enormous cube-like expansion near the peak of the Kato Road building is also taking form. Interestingly , the substances seen around the building in earlier flyovers of the site have been diminished, suggesting that gear and other associated substances might have been moved in the center.

Also noteworthy was that the excess flooring that Tesla is adding on the Kato Road building. Fondly dubbed from the Tesla community because the “Magic Cube,” that the construction has seen notable progress in recent weeks. This time round, the drone owner managed to get pretty close to the structure as well, having a rare glimpse of its high ceilings and grand floor space. Tesla has not shared some information regarding the function which the “cube” performs in the Roadrunner line.

Initial reports concerning the Roadrunner site were shared this past year, when CNBC reported the Kato Road facility was being used by Tesla as a “skunkworks laboratory ” into design and create battery cells and battery manufacturing equipment. The book ’s report did not define which cells were being produced on the site, though speculations suggested the site was involved in Tesla’s initiative to develop and release a more million-mile battery.

Tesla’s fillings into the City of Fremont imply the Roadrunner facility is going to be home 45 study and development workers as well as 425 manufacturing workers that are spread through several changes from Monday to Friday. Seemingly in preparation of a ramp in its operations, Tesla has recently posted a range of battery mobile manufacturing-related job listings to the site, such as Cell Engineers, Production Process Engineers, and Controls Engineers, to name a few.

While the Roadrunner centre ’s battery output will likely be restricted due to its size, the facility may be enough to support the business ’s forthcoming low-volume vehicles such as the Plaid Model S and Plaid Model X, in addition to the next-generation Roadster. All three vehicles have been expected to be in the bleeding edge of their electrical vehicle manufacturer ’s technician, making them an ideal match for the organization ’s first custom-designed cells.
