True to the word, Tesla has returned into the Nürburgring using just two “Plaid” Model S units. Both vehicles have been seen running hot laps since they came at the renowned German racetrack, and if recent observations have been any indication, it might appear that Tesla has really brought two variants of its Model S because of the Nürburgring comeback. What’s more, it seems that Tesla is benchmarking the operation of both Plaid Model S contrary to every other.

Tesla’s Plaid Model S units in the Nürburgring may be discerned by their color and back badges. One is a blue device using a Dual Motor badge, although the other is a vehicle that’s marked P100D+. Accounts and reports from resources in the area suggest that both of these vehicles don’t have the identical performance. While both are Plaid Model S prototypes, their track outcomes suggest that they are somewhat distinct, perhaps along the very exact lines as Porsche’s Taycan Turbo and Turbo S variant.

The differences between the 2 vehicles were hinted at last month through Tesla’s excursion to the Nürburgring. Observing both vehicles, a photographer from motoring publication Motor Authority stated that the blue Plaid Model S managed to complete a lap around the iconic German track in 7:40, a couple of seconds faster than the record set by the Porsche Taycan Turbo.

The same photographer also listed an impressive 7:23 lap using the reddish Model S Plaid unit, that is identical to some hand-timed lap recorded by German media socket Auto Motor und Sport. Quite reluctantly, Tesla left out of its initial Nürburgring rounds after the Model S Plaid unit apparently broke down in the midst of a hot lap.

Both of these vehicles returned into the Nürburgring this past week. This time aroundthe Plaid Model S units sported a refreshed widebody kit that included side vents, and in the instance of the blue device, a gigantic back diffuser reminiscent of the one used by Tesla in the next-generation Roadster. Images shot of the crimson Plaid Model S’ return shown that the vehicle wasn’t equipped with a diffuser, though it had big rear spoiler and the same side vents using Gurney flap discovered in its own blue god.

Interestingly, images recently acquired by Teslarati reveal that Tesla has set the same big rear diffuser in its own reddish Model S at the Nürburgring. The automobile was brought on to the track at the rear of the vehicle, and on the road, it had been evident that the aeros have been set up on the vehicle. A closeup picture of the flagship sedan that was track-capable additionally revealed that the Model S Plaid was fitted using a front spoiler too.

With those images in mind, it seems that Tesla is analyzing how every Plaid Model S prototype performs around the Nürburgring together and without. This implies that Tesla is likely benchmarking both Model S Plaid units against each other s functionality for circuit. These efforts finally bode well for Tesla’s forthcoming Plaid models for the Model S and Model X, since the electrical car maker seems to be leaving no stone unturned in its attempts to develop a flagship vehicle that may attack one of the racing world’s most notorious tracks without a hesitation.

Elon Musk has mentioned a few information about Tesla’s forthcoming Plaid Model S. For starters, the vehicle will probably have three motors, so very similar to the next-generation Roadster, that is equipped with one electric motor at the front and 2 at the back. Musk also said in a recent tweet the creation Plaid Model S, that will reflect the final iteration of the car that will place Tesla’s official Nürburgring album, is set to enter its production stage sometime in Summer 2020. Pricing to the Tesla Model S Plaid versions have not been revealed by Tesla, however Elon Musk has mentioned that the vehicles are going to be priced higher than the current Raven Model S Performance using Ludicrous Mode.
