Tesla makes adjustments to their lineup to a disorderly foundation, but it appears the Model S is about to have a substantial refresh.

Citing many former and present employees, CNBC is reporting Tesla’so mill in Fremont, California has been ready to create the all-new Model Y and an upgraded Model S.

The latter car is expected to go into production in September and it is going to reportedly feature a host of upgrades including a new interior which follows in the footsteps of this Model 3. Because of this, we can anticipate a minimalist cabin which could eschew the present car’s electronic device cluster and touchscreen infotainment system using a portrait orientation. Both will presumably be replaced through an all-new ‘drifting ’ screen much like this one applied in the Model 3.

Besides the new infotainment system, the vehicle could embrace seats sourced from higher-end versions of this Model 3. There may also be a new dashboard and a revised center console – along with other items.

Performance changes are somewhat more mysterious, but the report suggested the upgraded Model S would discuss its electrical motors using the higher-end versions of the Model 3. The report also says there’ll be an upgraded battery that increases the scope to 400 miles (644 km). This ’s an impressive space for an EV, but it’s only 30 miles (48 km) further than the existing Model S Long Range.

It remains unclear whether the update will also have external styling changes, but it appears the car is going to be built on exactly precisely the exact identical production line since the Model X. This will reportedly happen to adapt Model Y production which could begin as early as next year. If this ’therefore the case, the entry-level crossover can arrive well before its planned launch in the fall of 2020.
