US economy misses forecasts, adds just 145,000 jobs in December

The labour market cooled at the end of 2019 but stayed creating jobs to get a listing. 
That brought the total earnings for the year to 2.1 million, also based on what could be anticipated from the decade-long expansion. 
Every month wage growth continued to outpace inflation but fell short of their growth levels observed in early 2019.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics said Friday 145,000 nonfarm payrolls were created in December, compared with economist predictions for 160,000. That brought the total earnings for the year to 2.1 million, also based on what could be anticipated from the decade-long expansion but under the 2.7 million documented in 2018.  See the rest of the narrative at Business Insider
