VW ID.3 Test Drivers Reporting 300 Errors Per Day, Launch Could Be Delayed For A Year

Last year, it had been noted that VW would carry on with the manufacturing process for the ID.3 despite the automobile having serious software issues.

Currently however, according to Manager Magazin, these glitches may induce the carmaker to abandon the ID.3’s sales launch, scheduled for summer time. It is also asserted that countless test drivers to the automobiles are reporting up to 300 errors per day.

The problems seem to originate in the fundamental structure of this ID.3’so software, which has been developed “too hastily”, ” said the German magazine, citing VW’s experts. It results in dropouts and issues with many of the machine components not knowing each other.

The report asserts that over 10,000 technicians ‘ are hard at work attempting to fix these problems, which ultimately could delay the ID.3’s launch up to a year. Of course, any such delay could prove quite costly for VW, which requires to place the ID.3 on the road as soon as possible so as to meet strict new European navy emissions targets.

Back in December, Manager Magazin noted that these glitches supposed that 20,000 ID.3 units would be built without a complete software package, meaning that teams of engineers might need to manually fix the problem post-production at additional price.

The ID.3 is the first electric car to be predicated on VW’s MEB electrical architecture, a platform that can underpin 27 EVs at the end of 2022, according to Autonews Europe. The model will also function as a direct competitor to this Tesla Model 3, using foundation variations priced from under 30,000 euros ($32,635) in Germany.
