Watch Thieves Steal A Tesla Model S In Seconds With Relay Attack

Security camera eyesight from the UK has been released online show a pair of burglars stealing a Tesla Model S out of a driveway in less than 30 seconds.

The Tesla Model S, like so many other cars on the market, utilizes a keyless entry and begin system which functions by allowing the operator access to the motor automobile and detecting the presence of a keyfob. In the past several years, car thieves are in a position to exploit the vulnerabilities of such systems in what are called relay attacks.

All burglars need to do is simply take a relay box and its associated cables to the front of your house. The relay box duplicates the sign from the keyfob and sends it, if the automobile keyfob is nearby. In seconds, thieves can unlock the doors and drive off.

This ’s precisely what occurred in this example. The white Tesla Model S was sitting in the property’s driveway when a man with a relay box and cables approaches the door. He is able to unlock the car indoors, turns the sedan on, and quickly reverses out of their driveway. Those within the house can be heard talking after discovering their Tesla was gone.

A study performed by the German General Automobile Club found that 230 could be duped into thinking than it really is, the secret is nearer to the automobile. On average, it takes thieves utilizing relay boxes to steal a vehicle.
