One of the many touted benefits of EVs more than vehicles using internal combustion motors is the running and maintenance costs – but would be these cost savings that important?

When the very first Tesla models hit the current market, specifically early Model S cases, it was unclear just how reliable they would be in the long run. After all a comparatively young company in the time was building them together with expertise in the area. Over the years since, Tesla earnings have jumped and a few owners have put huge amounts of miles.

One of these is Steve Sasman. In 2014he purchased a secondhand Model S P85 using 35,000 miles (~56,000 kilometers ) on the clock for $79,000. He drove extensively during his five years of ownership prior to promoting it in August last year using 214,072 miles (344,515 kilometers ) beneath its belt. He even went on a road trip together using it to 48 U.S. countries and Canada. Just how much did all of this driving cost him in maintenance?

Based on Tesmanian, Sasman spent only $5,415 on upkeep, using all the most critical prices being $2,215 for a brand new infotainment display and $790 for a brand new charging interface. He also went through two sets of tires, had to replace a door handle and the battery, in addition to a few other things.

The Tesla’s current owner has continued to drive the Model S often along with the EV recently ticked over the 300,000 mile (482,803 kilometers ) mark. During the last 86,000 miles (138,403 kilometers ), upkeep costs have totaled “roughly ” $5000. All up, this comes to your bit over $10,000 for 300,000 miles of driving. That, in our books, is impressive.
