XPeng has introduced a facelifted version of the G3, known as the G3i, in China.

Set to be launched in September, the G3i features a sleeker front fascia that echoes the one found on the P7. As you can see, it features a slender LED light bar that resides above new headlights.

Moving further back, we can see a taller hood and new flush-mounted door handles. The crossover has also been equipped with a revised rear end that features a new bumper, a modified diffuser and updated taillights.

Interior changes are more modest, but the G3i has an upgraded 15.6-inch infotainment system that uses a Snapdragon 820A auto-grade chip. It also has a “full-scenario” voice assistant, which supports “continuous dialogue and customized voice commands.”

Buyers will also find XPeng’s XPILOT 2.5 semi-autonomous driving system, which is described as the “strongest autonomous driving assistance system in its class.”

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor that produces 194 hp (145 kW / 197 PS) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque. It enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in approximately 8.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h).

The entry-level model has a 55 kWh battery pack and it enables the G3i to travel 286 miles (460 km) in the New European Driving Cycle. Higher-end variants have a larger 66 kWh battery pack and it increases the NEDC range to 323 miles (520 km).

When the G3i goes on sale this fall, pricing will start at ¥149,800 ($23,121 / £16,649 / €19,468) after subsidies.

While the G3i isn’t as flashy as the P7, the G3 was the brand’s first mass-produced model. It was launched in 2018 and has become the “second best-selling pure electric SUV in China’s mid-to-high-end” segment, so it’s critical for the company’s success.
