Xpeng Motors has dropped a teaser previewing its latest model that’s set to premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show next month.

Xpeng first came across our radar using the launch of the G3 SUV last year. Since that time, the Chinese electric car manufacturer has been creating a new four-door sedan which it dubs a “mass manufacturing model. ” The vehicle, codenamed E28, has been pencilled in for a commercial launch at the end of 2019.

Limited information about its electrical powertrain have been supplied, but Xpeng claims that the E28 will come equipped with Nvidia’s AI supercompeting platform which supports Level 3 autonomous driving attributes. The E28 can be set to have an impressive driving range as well as decent levels of functionality.

“Our in-house operating system and proprietary autonomous driving applications built on NVidia’s powerful Xavier chip make E28 the most innovative production model concerning user interface design and smart features in today’s China auto market,” vice president of Xpeng’s autonomous driving unit Xinzhou Wu said.

Visually, the single teaser picture of the vehicle provided and the several shots of E28 prototypes show that the sedan will have a sleek design with a short front overhang, frameless doors, concealed door handles, and a panoramic sunroof. There’s also a very short rear decklid and a small lip spoiler on the trunk.

Xpeng will confirm more details concerning the vehicle in the coming weeks leading up to the Shanghai Auto Show.
