China’s Auto Industry Doing All It Can To Coax Back Shoppers

Together with China gradually coming out of its lockdown stemming in the coronavirus outbreak, car manufacturers and dealerships throughout the country are looking to do anything they can to encourage shoppers back to showrooms, Reuters reports.

In February, sales of automobiles in China plunged by 79 percent and dropped by 45 percent in the first three months of March. A lot of promotions have been held as restrictions are gradually eased throughout the country.

One such promotion has been established by Tesla using it today offering. Moreover, Zhejiang Geely has started to deliver disinfected automobiles to customers and is dropping off keys with drones to avoid contact. What’s the EV unit of Guangzhou Automobile Group has started testing a system that perfumes its Aion LX SUV using the odor of traditional Chinese medicine.

Local networking superstar ‘Lipstick King’ also recently urged millions of fans of a live-stream to register for a new rental deal about the Cadillac CT4. SAIC-GM-Wuling can also be offering customers discounts of up to 11,000 yuan ($1,550) for anyone buying a car from your Wuling and Baojun brands. Buyers also get a health mask.

Besides these efforts, industry bodies want help from the government to get things back on track. For instance, the government is being called on to supply buy tax cuts on vehicles while also supporting sales in rural areas and easing emission regulations. The Chinese Automobile Dealers Association has lobbied for auto and liquidity support for loans, including credit lines.
