Images from Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai complicated suggest that the installation of this Made in China Model Y stamping press is currently nearing completion. The photographs works well for the progress of the Shanghai based factory, since it suggests that trial production runs of this Model Y might indeed start sooner than expected as soon as the end of the season.

The images out of Giga Shanghai include a stamping press which looks all but completely set up. One end of this large machine also contained a banner which read “上海特斯拉冲压生产线上梁大吉,” that roughly equates to “Good fortune for finishing the installation of Giga Shanghai stamping line. ”

Dependent on the firm ’s Q4 2019 Update Letter, the stamping area in Gigafactory Shanghai is located in the tail end of the Phase 1 building, in which the Model 3 is currently being built. Considering the Model Y factory mirrors the layout of this Model 3 factory that uttered it, it appears safe to assume that the installed stamping machine has been set up on the end of this Phase 2A building as well.

This would be quite an interesting setup, viewing as the Model 3 factory and the Model Y factory seem to be linked through their stamping areas. Recent drone flyovers have demonstrated that this might be the case, because ldquo, a &;rdquo & sky bridge appears to be observable between the Phase 1 and Phase 2A buildings. The structure’s existence opens a good deal of speculations about Tesla’s production plans for China.

In the footage out of Wuwa, @Reenath noticed the sky bridge connecting the phase 1 ext segment to the phase two meeting lines. I suspect it’therefore that the conveyer bridge for projecting pieces utilized for #ModelY. If true, the speculated machine is designed to be shared between 3 & Y . https://t.co/3YcfvQTE0O pic.twitter.com/IdEoaZ955Q

It must be noted that while the Model 3 and the Model Y discuss about 75% of the parts, both vehicles are fabricated differently. An extensive teardown of an early production Model 3 and Model Y in noted automobile veteran Sandy Munro established this, with the analysis showing the all-electric crossover has much more manufacturing efficiencies compared to its aide.

Together with the installation of this Model Y mill ’s stamping press in mind, in addition to the existence of a sky bridge between the two production facilities at the Giga Shanghai complicated, it appears that Tesla is now only months away from starting trial production runs of this Model Y for the Chinese market. But this time round the refinement of the car ’therefore manufacturing process will probably be smoother because the Model 3 and Model Y centers are apparently being designed to discuss a few of their operations.
