“Look At Tesla”, Lincoln Dealers Say, As They Don’t Want To Leave The Sedan Business

Since Lincoln’s parent company Ford is after the trend, the luxury brand is left with two sedans in its line: the MKZ along with Continental.

However, the initial one is going to be retired for good this year, while the flagship four-door is still tipped to live on until 2021. This will leave Lincoln without any sedans in its lineup, a scenario which has annoyed dealers, AutoNews reports, after speaking to the Lincoln National Dealer Council Chairman, Tom Lynch.

“The Council continues to talk to the company about needing to be in the sedan business”, he explained. “You only have to look in Tesla. Individuals are going to want this When you’ve got a item, plus they’re going to purchase it. What looks like for Lincoln moving ahead, I’m not convinced of. ”

Even though the future looks dark for Lincolns, all these haven’t always been doing in the recent years. In 2019, U.S. deliveries of the MKZ saw an 11 percent fall to 17,725 deliveries, and also the bigger Continental did even worse: 6,586 units sold, down 25 percent. This ’s despite reviving the Continental Coach Door Edition for its 2020MY, that created a significant buzz. The amount represents a tiny fraction of Lincoln’s earnings last year, which, according to CarSalesBase, included 112,204 vehicles, up from 2018’s 103,587.

Despite the imminent passing of the MKZ and Continental, Lincoln would Nevertheless Be left with a strong SUV lineup which counts with the MKC, Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator and Navigator.
