New Porsche 911 Turbo S Proves You Can Have Speed And Subtlety

Even the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S have long been some of the fastest cars on the market and it’therefore no different with the 992-generation models, unveiled in the wake of the canceled Geneva Motor Show. Henry Catchpole recently had the chance to take an exclusive look.

Much like the 991-generation 911 Turbo S, the newest car is powered with a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engine. So that it churns out 641 hp, a whole 69 hp more than the prior version, But this engine was overhauled. Torque sits at a 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). Like always, power is routed throughout all four wheels courtesy of an PDK eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Few automobiles got off the ground as fast as the prior 911 Turbo S and this brand new one, Porsche is quoting a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.7 seconds and 0-120 mph (193 km/h) in 8.9 seconds. Both these figures, especially the 0-62 mph time, are considered to be conservative. The new Turbo S will probably continue hastening through to 205 mph (330 km/h).

Aiding in the car’s potency is the simple fact that the drive system features differentials in the center and also at the trunk. The car also comes standard .

As Catchpole mentions, the new car produces 15 per cent more downforce than the outgoing version, resulting in a total of 100 kg (220 pounds ) downforce at 205 mph (330 km/h).
