Perfect Dark Was Set in 2020, But Where Is Rare’s Franchise Now?

The game Perfect Dark was place in the 2020’s, but now that the future is here where’s the favorite franchise gone? The first Perfect Dark game was created from the studio Rare and released to your Nintendo 64 from 2000 to both participant and critical acclaim. The game did well enough to achieve Nintendo’s’Player Choice’ award and is generally cited as one of the best video games ever released. There was a sequel on the Xbox 360 in 2005 which did comparatively well, despite critics feel like it did not live up to the expectations set by its predecessor.

The original Perfect Dark was a first person shooter which (along with its own spiritual prequel GoldenEye 007 on the N64) entirely changed the world of video games. Players led protagonist Joanna Dark through a string of missions and spent the majority of the game shooting bad guys, deploying gadgets, and completing objectives in order to avoid an alien invasion of Earth. Perfect Dark’s shooting mechanisms and intricate enemy AI made it radical to its Nintendo 64 and also the timeframe where it released. The game had many multiplayer options, enabling players to perform cooperatively or competitively during either the narrative campaign or during Perfect Dark’s multitude of multiplayer modes, and it received an HD movie for the Xbox 360.

A fan of this show published on Twitter recently,”Thus begins 2020, the year Perfect Dark was set.”  Even though the consumer was likely referring to this prequel Perfect Dark Zero, the two games do take place. The game set is put in a futuristic world that’s quite different with weapons and technology, than current variant of 2020 having accelerated past what humans are capable of producing now far. This was one of the attributes which made acting Joanna Dark much more interesting for gamers at the time, because she has access to a plethora of technologies that are innovative.

The firm behind Perfect Dark, Rare, is known for having created games that were integral to a lot of gamers’ childhoods. Unusual also functioned on titles such as Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country, and Viva Piñata, along with several others. After several years of working with Nintendo, the company was eventually acquired by Microsoft in 2002. Despite getting positive reviews for most of the games Rare’s matches, excluding the sequel name Perfect Dark Zero, faked to sell very poorly, and Microsoft finally restructured the company about 2010. From there Rare appeared to go away from their usual quirky and advanced franchises and faked to work on Kinect games and multiplayer titles like Sea of Thieves.

Perfect Dark was revolutionary and groundbreaking when it came out over 20 years ago, and it is strange Microsoft would purchase a company to drop their franchises. A huge part of gamers can remember together with their friends playing with with the style and marveling at the wonderful visuals and game mechanisms. To this day there are people who try and conquer speedruns or break documents centered around this game. Perhaps 1 day Rare will go back to its roots and elegance fans with the following Perfect Dark entry, but for now it seems like they are pleased to work in Microsoft’s umbrella on titles. Until a return does happen, gamers will need to suffice with dusting off their old Nintendo 64 or Xbox 360 systems.
