Former Tesla executive JB Straubel’s battery replacement enterprise, known as Redwood Materials, has attained an exclusive venture with Electronic Recyclers International, also known as ERI, to recycle batteries and solar panels. The recycling of solar panels has not yet been tackled by Redwood or ERI.
ERI is North America’s biggest electronic equipment consolidator, also Redwood’s venture will expand the partnership ’s recycling output. ERI provides Redwood entry to the biggest supply of waste, triggering its ability to recycle batteries to substances which can be utilised to construct brand new EVs and other clean energy solutions.

The partnership provides JB Straubel a chair on ERI’s board, as Redwood produced “a significant strategic investment in ERI,” Redwood spokespeople told Teslarati. Straubel’s main venture following his departure by Tesla was to assist in the recycling portion of the EV distribution chain. It finally landed the company a partnership using Envision AESC, the company that manufactures cells for its Nissan Leaf and Panasonic, Tesla’s battery supplier at the Sparks, Nevada Gigafactory.
Redwood’s growth to ERI’s e-waste provides the recycling thing entry to solar panels, a new business initiative that the company has not yet been involved with. As part of the bargain, all ERI’s solar panels will be sent to Redwood for recycling functions.

We’re extremely excited to be entering into this strategic partnership with Redwood Materials. ”
As demand for metals crucial for EV batteries’ operation increases, recycling efforts are taking center stage. The overwhelming shift in demand for EVs has been driving the price of metals such as cobalt, nickel, copper, and lithium to all-new levels. EV companies, such as Tesla, are all working to boost battery life production both in-house and through third-party makers. Elon Musk offered a “giant contract” to nickel suppliers, a petition that many mining firms answered. But, there could always be , and at the sustainable spirit of EV creation, recycling is turning into a more sought-after process to receive battery substances.
