In the US, 2018 marked another great year for BMW in relation to earnings . This past year, BMW brand sales rose 1.7 percent on total sales of 311,014 in comparison to the 305,685 sold in 2017. Compared to maybe a decade before, that the SUV revenue for the Bavarians would be the bread and butterwith record amounts year-over-year.

BMW’s lineup of Sports Activity Vehicles accounted for 63 percent of BMW new sales in December 2018. For the tenth successive month, the BMW X3 was the top-selling BMW model in the U.S., followed by the brand new BMW X5. Taken together, the BMW X3 and X5 represented more than two out of 5 BMW vehicles offered in the U.S. in December.

If it comes to superior compact sedans, the market includes a new leader. According to California-based electric automobile maker Tesla, their Model 3 premium auto sold to around 138,000 U.S. customers in 2018, from the 145,846 Model 3s created. Tesla touts that Model 3 is now the best-selling vehicle in the top segment within the United States.

In contrast, the earnings of the BMW 3 and 4 Series were reported in 75,957 units. Mercedes-Benz says that 60,409 C-Class models were marketed in the US in 2018, whereas Lexus reported 48,484 components for the Lexus ES.

For the entire calendar year, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, and Audi – also Mazda and VW – sold more cars than Tesla.

2019 will bring decreased tax credits for Tesla customers, therefore it remains to be seen those caps will impact the earnings. Yet, Tesla hope to make a significant number of Model 3s this year because of the projected expansion to Europe and China.
