Tesla China might replicate its exceptional Model 3 earnings this past month that December, partly thanks to Shanghai’s upgraded license plate rules. In October, Shanghai motorists ’ curiosity about new energy vehicles (NEVs) threatening following the city announced that it would expand constraints on non-local license plates. One local Tesla store in China reported promoting 80 vehicles in one morning following the news broke regarding the coverage. Global Times reported the the same Tesla store usually sold between 10-20 vehicles within a day.
As stated by the policy upgrades Shanghai authorities released in October, automobiles with non-local license plates would not be permitted to push specific elevated roads in town by 7am to 8pm on workdays starting from November 2. Since the coverage took effect , the spike in earnings could continue to December, leading to a Q4 surge for Tesla China.
