This BMW Is The Ultimate 328i Track Racer

You know how BMW is always boasting about building the ultimate driving machine? Well, it might take someone stripping down an F30 3-Series for some people to finally agree, as you can easily turn it into a proper 4-door sedan race car.

This particular 2012 BMW 328i was built and campaigned as an ST-class IMSA race car by BimmerWorld, and is now getting auctioned off through Bring a Trailer.

While this is no longer a street legal vehicle, it should definitely get the job done for anyone looking to put in some seriously quick lap times on a track.

The ad doesn’t specify how many miles this car has on the clock, but that’s sort of irrelevant given the very nature of the vehicle and how many custom parts there are.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter N20 inline-four sourced from Roush Engines boasting an MHI turbocharger, forged pistons, a mechanical high-output water pump, custom intercooler and more. The engine is mated to a Getrag GS6-17BG six-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels through a Diffsonline racing limited slip differential.

Meanwhile, the Alpine White exterior comes with M-tricolor stripes, an M Sport front bumper, carbon fiber hood and trunk, black 18-inch Apex wheels, carbon fiber headlight blanks and air jacks.

As for the interior, it has been stripped almost entirely (with the exception of the upper dash panel) and now features a roll cage, a Racetech seat, custom steering wheel, an electrical fire suppression system and a helmet cooling system.
