Tesla will continue to support business functions at its Fremont factory at the Bay Area, as the County-mandated Coronavirus lockdown proceeds to closed down “non-essential” companies throughout the region.

In an email sent to employees on Wednesday, the company’s North American head of Human Resources Valerie Capers Workman notes that Tesla does has yet to get a “last word” from the City, County, State and, Federal Government about the status of the surgeries and will continue to operate with essential employees. The business is requesting and those unwilling to come to work, to use any accrued paid time off and remain in your home. For those brief on PTO, the business is currently allowing employees to borrow around 80 hours.

“If you are not feeling well, please remain in your home and utilize PTO. If your PTO balance is low, you can borrow up to 80 hours (2 weeks), once you exhaust your PTO balance. Please inform your manager and follow the standard procedures for ill time.If you can’t or are hesitant to come to function, you could even apply your PTO,” reads your email.

Moreover, Tesla explains its stance on preserving operations at its Fremont, California factory, noting that employees which are in an essential role within deliveries production, and other functions, need to continue to report to function.

“There are no changes in your typical assignment and you should continue to report to work as discussed with your manager if you are in production an essential function, service, deliveries, testing and supporting classes. ”

Now ’s email includes the heels of Monday’s announcement of a “refuge in place” lockdown for its San Francisco Bay Area to fight the spread of the coronavirus. The mandate, which required seven counties including Alameda County in which Tesla operates its North American car factory, called for residents and employees which don’t support a role in solutions, medical, and food to remain home.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk told employees in an email delivered Tuesday that he planned to work but it was OK to remain in your home. “I’d prefer to be super clear that in the event that you feel the slightest bit embarrassing or ill, please don’t feel bound to come to perform,” stated Musk to employees within his email. “I will be at work, but that’s me. Entirely OK if you would like to remain home for almost whatever reason. ”

However the Silicon Valley-based electric car company came under stress later that evening following the Alameda County Sheriff called out Tesla for being a non-essential small business . The tweet posted from the county Sheriff’s department apparently addressed Tesla’s connection to the new ordinance, while indicating that the corporation can maintain fundamental operations.  “Tesla can preserve minimum surgeries per the Alameda County Health Order. ”

As of Tuesday, Tesla proceeds to maintain fundamental operations at its Fremont factory. While the business reels from the consumer and financial effects of the global COVID-19 on its outlook, the Elon Musk-led electrical carmaker is anticipated to continue operations under well-defined guidelines. Tesla had begun deliveries of its newest Model Y crossover times prior to the announced lockdown.

“We still do not have a word from the City, County, State and, Federal Government about the status of the operations. We have had conflicting guidance from various degrees of authorities,” notes Workman within her email to staff.

The complete email, acquired by CNBC, was supplied below.

Hi Team!

We do not have a word from the City, County, State andalso Federal Government about the status of the operations. We have had conflicting guidance. Until then, we’re operating with Essential Employees just while all others are working at home, and working to integrate all CDC tips in our operations. There are no changes in your regular assignment and you should continue to report to work if you are in an essential function: production, service, deliveries, testing and supporting classes as discussed with your manager. If you are not delegated to support an essential function, your manager might suggest a temporary move to support essential functions, or you may want to be on call. If you are not feeling well, please remain in your home and utilize PTO. If your PTO balance is low, you can borrow up to 80 hours (2 weeks), once you exhaust your PTO balance. Please inform your manager and follow the standard procedures for time. If you can’t or are hesitant to come to function, you can even apply your PTO. Please inform your manager. You can even take unpaid time off, following your exhaust your PTO. You won’t be punished for your decision. There will be no disciplinary action for presence based on wellness or impossibility to arrive at operate. We will communicate with everybody again talking and we love all you are doing to maintain safe social distance.

Thank you!

Valerie
