Tesla primary executive Elon Musk has left the audacious claim the next-generation Tesla Roadster will be capable of hovering. No, your eyes are not deceiving you.

Back in mid-2018, the entrepreneur promised that when the Roadster goes available, it will be available with the optional ‘Space X bundle ‘ that comes complete with rocket thrusters. Originally, Musk stated these would assist in the automobile ’s acceleration, top speed, braking, and cornering and now he says they’ll also allow the all-electric hypercar to fly, or even hover.

Responding to a tweet constituting the DeLorean from Back to the Future hovering, Musk said that the new Roadster could have a similar feature. Asked to clarify whether he was joking or not by famous YouTuber Marques Brownlee, he indicated that he is very serious about creating a hovering hypercar.

I’m not. Will utilize SpaceX cold gas thruster system using ultra high pressure atmosphere in a composite over-wrapped pressure boat in place of both back seats.

“Will utilize SpaceX cold gas thruster system using ultra high pressure atmosphere in a combination over-wrapped pressure container in place of both back seats,” Musk added.

As crazy as that seems, we have no doubt that Musk is very serious about making it happen. However, whether or not this is really something that may be achieved and offered to the general public is another issue entirely. Such a system would also be exceptionally expensive and likely not offered in very large numbers.

Excluding the rocket thrusters, the brand new Tesla Roadster is already promising to be a thing notable. Tesla asserts that thanks to its strong electrical motors and 200 kWh battery pack, the Roadster will reportedly travel over 620 miles (1000 kilometers ) on a single fee, be in a position to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in a standstill at 1.9 seconds, and top out at over 250 mph (402 km/h).
