Though the Tesla Model Y isn’t the automaker’s cheapest car, it is far from the most expensive. The Long Range All Wheel Drive version of this all-electric crossover costs $49,990. However, several regional incentives from various groups decreased the cost that could be paid using taxpayer dollars to about $39,000, a statement from Ipswich PD officials said.

A $10,000 grant from the Ipswich Electric Light Department along with a $4,290 grant from the Green Community Porgram cancel costs by nearly $15,000, bringing the cost down substantially at the point of purchase. Additional savings will be calculated over the life of the vehicle, as gas fill-ups, oil changes, along with other factors of maintenance which are present with combustion motor vehicles are poor using the Model Y.

“The grants decrease the expense to taxpayers to roughly $39,000, and it will be like gas-powered choices and marginally less than the sum budgeted by the town,” the statement said.

In addition, Ipswich PD stated it’ll save $13,o00 in fuel and maintenance costs within a ten-year period.

The Model Y is not the very first electric car that is involved in the Ipswich local authorities. It’s the first time, joining three Chevy Bolts, along with a Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, all reserved for particular individuals in the town’s local authorities.
